Passage
Li Xun is a quiet boy who studies computer science. He doesn’t talk much and always wears a black jacket. Zhu Yun is a cheerful girl who loves fashion and wears pretty dresses. They meet in a university class and seem like total opposites. Li Xun thinks Zhu Yun is just a rich girl who cares about looks. Zhu Yun thinks Li Xun is cold and rude. But when they work on a project together, they start to see each other differently. Li Xun discovers that Zhu Yun is smart and hardworking. Zhu Yun finds out that Li Xun is shy, not cold. One evening, Li Xun lights a cigarette lighter and says, “This is the only bright thing in my dark world.” Zhu Yun takes his hand and replies, “Then let me be your light.” From that night on, the boy in the black jacket and the girl in the princess dress became each other’s world.

Part 5 · Writing
Write 3–5 sentences about two people who are very different but become close. Use past tense.
Example: When I first met my best friend, I thought we had nothing in common. She loved sports and I loved reading. But one day, we were put in the same group project. We started talking and realized we both loved music. Now she is the person who understands me best. Being different doesn’t mean you can’t be close.
